Want to Just Feel Better? Let’s be honest, if you are a holding down a full time job, whether it’s corporate or in the home, also caring for children and family, making time for yourself may seem selfish and unnecessary. Cuz, who has the time for that? The answer is YOU.YOU have the time. Let’s just manage it differently to suit your personal needs, focusing on what’s important to you. If you aren’t feeling good mentally, emotionally and physically, it’s hard to show up as our true selves. How Do You Want to Feel? How Can You Get There? What brings you joy and fulfillment? Do more of that! What brings you down? Do less of that! Easier said, than done of course. Making a change starts with acknowledging where you are and where you want to be. Having a vision that aligns with your values and passions is important. Knowing your strengths and playing to them for YOU! Here are some proven tips for setting a new goal or habit:1. Be Specific: Define exactly what you want to achieve. For example:“I will do three 30-minute yoga sessions per week, Mon, Wed, and Fri at 3 pm.”“I will meal prep two meals every Sunday evening.”
2. Assess Importance: On a scale of 1–10, how important is this habit? A 10 means higher follow-through; below 7, reconsider priorities.3. Prepare for Action: Identify barriers and needed support. Adjust your environment, inform others, and ensure the habit aligns with your values and long-term goals.4. Start Small: Take tiny, achievable steps. Stack or pair habits for consistency. Examples:Place tennis shoes by the door to remind you to walk after dinner.Stretch while watching your favorite show.Journal 10 minutes after brushing your teeth.
5. Define Success: Decide how you’ll measure progress—feeling, action, or tracking via journal, calendar, or app.6. Celebrate Wins: Acknowledge milestones and small achievements to stay motivated and reflect on your “why.”This framework is known as a SMART Goal: This approach ensures goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound, fostering sustainable change and small wins.
